In Colorado, two individuals attempting to smuggle in $112,000 worth of tobacco and narcotics valued at $89,500 into federal prison using a slingshot have been detained. The sheriff of Grant County reported that the couple tried to introduce prohibited items into the prison. However, due to the diligence of law enforcement, they were apprehended.

The sheriff praised the professionalism of both officers involved and stated, "This was not done haphazardly; they were very well prepared and quite persistent." He clarified that the detained men attempted to bring in contraband and distribute methamphetamine in prison without permission.

The young men, aged 18 and 19, had planned to launch the banned items over the prison fence using a pneumatic sling, capable of hurling objects more than 350 feet. The attempt by the young individuals was conducted with high coordination and meticulous planning, but was thwarted thanks to the swift reaction of the law enforcement officers.

The sheriff added that thanks to the attentiveness of the police, they managed to prevent drug smuggling into the prison. "It was planned very astutely and well thought out, that the operation was executed with the highest professionalism and unusual confidence," the sheriff concluded.
